This is Chelsey with a Slay Squad Fitness and Nutrition Coaching and Phoenix Personal Training. And today I wanted to talk a little bit about my story of learning to invest in myself and my health, and how this really changed my life, and opened up the door for me to even start the Slay Squad Phoenix personal training, and now start changing 1000s of other women’s lives. When I began my health and fitness journey, over a decade ago, I was a nurse working 12 hour shifts. I worked both 12 hr day shifts and 12 hour night shifts in the hospital and I began to struggle with my own health. I was exhausted, tired, only 22 years old, and really trying to learn how to navigate night shift while taking care of my health. Night Shift was taking a toll on my health. I was exhausted. getting burnt out, not getting enough sleep. I found myself getting sick constantly, and I developed acid reflux at the age of 22. I just did not feel my best. So, I started to dive in head first into health and wellness. I realized I was too young to feel this way. So I was going to change something. I started Googling workout programs, how to lose weight, get in great shape, how to optimize health. I cut back on drinking wine, which was something I loved to do after my shifts. Nurses understand that working in acute care in a hospital is stressful. You are going to often want to turn to food, alcohol, things like that to help you feel good after shift. And I didn’t want that. I saw the pattern that many of the nurses that I worked with, and really how unhealthy so many healthcare workers were, and it’s not what I wanted. I joined a gym in my small town. Up till this point, I had really only done fitness classes and cardio. I had never done any kind of like progressive strength training plan. However, the gym I joined because I lived in a very small town at the time, only had a weight room. That was it. So that was kind of what I had to do. So I fell into weight training, honestly, by default, kind of by accident. There wasn’t really anything else that I could do. So I started Googling weight training plans. And I started to follow people on Facebook, look through girls that I was like, wow, they look like they know what they’re doing, and a lot of them did. Um, bikini competition. So I kind of started dabbling with that. I hired my own trainer. I did my 1st bikini show. I did fairly well. I did another show, did extremely well on that one, and became nationally qualified. But my health took a major toll on me. So I started to have gut health problems. I didn’t have a period for over 2 years from being extremely thin and undereating and falling, this really rigid meal plan my trainer put me on, and I really struggled with my relationship with food. So I started following people on social media. This was kind of the rise of social media. Instagram was the big thing at the time. I started following different coaches online. I found one, and he often talked about being shredded, but not giving up all the foods you loved, and I was like, how? Like, I don’t understand it, because the trainer that I had hired knew nothing, but had to tell me to eat chicken and broccoli and really trash my hormones. So, I built him for the longest time, and I wanted to hire him so bad, but I found out the prices, and looking back, I’m like, it is not that much money all for one on one penis and nutrition training, but at the time, for me, that was a huge investment. I was young. didn’t have a lot of extra money. I thought about working with him, probably at least a year, maybe a couple years, followed his staff. Reached out, once I got his information and prices, I still had to think about it forever, talked to my husband about it forever, like really struggled to take that 1st step. Eventually, my husband and myself hired him. And this changed my life. I’m not being dramatic. Changed my whole life, because I was eating at 1400 calories at the time we’re striving to. And I felt like that’s what I had to do. I needed to take 1,400 calories in order to maintain my petite frame at 5 foot nothing. 10305 pounds. And so that’s how I felt I had to eat. And he suggested when I talked about feeling hungry and feeling a little deprived, doing a reverse day. He helped me get my calories up. I realized I could eat a lot more, and maintain my weight, and this is when the whole game changed. Fitness and nutrition became so much more fun. I realized I could enjoy some food. I ate things I loved. And it would just totally protect my body. In fact, I had more energy for lifts. I started to look, I think, even better, was a little bit of muscle to show on my body. And this is when it changes again. I realize why. The best thing to myself is one of the best things I ever did. I got in really great shape myself. And nurses, all kinds of coworkers and friends, asking me something. So I started to help them. I helped them at first for free. Then I started to charge a little bit. And as I’ve gone on with my expertise, I’ve obviously continued to be able to charge a little bit more for the work that we provide. But for me, when it all switched, just realizing hiring that coach changed my whole body, changed my whole life. And then it ended up changing my career. I can’t tell you how much my life has changed. I quit working in the hospital and work full time at home. making more money than I ever made as a friend. Even for myself, home with my kids, flexibility, able to work from anywhere. That never would have happened had I not taken that leap of investing in my first coach. When I look back, he was extremely affordable, but at the time, to me, it wasn’t. an investment. And investing in yourself is one of the best people I do. I can say that firsthand from someone who really struggled to the beginning. I didn’t understand why coaches would charge that. It’s not for their time. It’s for their guidance, the roadmap, the expertise, the mindset shifts, it’s gonna happen in you. And one thing I also learned is, if you pay, you pay attention. You put in the work. If you are struggling with accountability and consistency, but you’ve never had to risk anything at all. You’re not really giving up a lot of your funny time resources. That’s probably something you need to do. If you struggle to actually show up for yourself, you’re not the person that should be looking for dollar store coaching or looking for the cheapest app possible. You’re gonna be so much more prone to quit if you haven’t invested in you. When you invest in yourself, you send a message to yourself, to your brain, that you are worth it, that this is worth it. And you show up differently. I see all the time. I see a difference in the women who invest in our six month program versus three months. The energy that they show up with, the commitment to themselves is different. The one year clients versus the sixth month, the energy that they show up with is different. Since joining that program, that really changed my life, I started the Sleigh Squad Fitness and Nutrition Coaching and Phoenix Personal Training. And it took me a while to really start charging what a program should. I was so cheap, and my client results were not as good as they should be. The quality of clients that I attracted was not as good as it should be. And as we’ve gotten to a more quality price, the quality of person we attract is better. If you’re struggling to invest in yourself, you need to take that leap because I promise you are the best investment you will ever make. So many women will invest in their home. You’ll upgrade your kitchen. You’ll upgrade your bathroom. You’ll buy a new purse that’s a designer bag. You’ll buy a new car, but, oh my gosh, $1,000 in yourself. You hesitate, you cringe, you have to think about it. You have to talk to your husband about it. You won’t make any kind of commitment sacrifice. You have to understand, that is keeping you stuck. This is their reason. You’re spiraling, you’re repeating the same negative habits. You’re trying everything for free, you’re trying every diet under the sun. You’re considering GLP ones without ever actually sticking to a program first. Invest in yourself, whether that is education, whether that is mindset work, whether that is nutrition and fitness. It started your health until you physically start taking care of your physical health. Everything is interconnected. So, with the slight squad of fitness and interesting coaching in Phoenix personal training, we do strive to have price points that can meet lots of people’s budgets, flexible, and all that. But you have to understand, if you don’t invest in yourself, you just don’t know yourself as worth it. Your health, your fitness investing in you is one of the most important things you could ever invest in, because there’s only one of you, and there’s only one body. You’ll probably live in multiple homes throughout your life. You’ll have multiple cars. You’ll have multiple clothes and bags. possessions. But yet, you don’t hesitate to blow $200 at Target. But spending that on investment, something that will make you healthier, better, stronger. You stop, you hesitate. It’s because you never done it. Once you do it, it becomes, in a way, so much easier people that do well, typically, are more decisive. That’s another thing I’ve learned on my own journey, too. is making decisions quickly. If something will help me get there, I’m gonna find a way to make it work financially. Because I know the value ahead. If you doubt yourself that you can do it, if you doubt that you can make it work, well, you’ll probably be the person looking on all these other people like, how do they do it? They’re so lucky. No, choose to make that reality You can decide to make it work. You just have to decide that you’re the kind of person that cares about your body, cares about your health, and is willing to invest a little bit of time, a little bit of money into it, and it will make every aspect of your life. So significantly better. Since hiring my first fitness coach, I no longer hesitate to invest. I’ve spent way more money on nutrition, fitness coaches since then. Every single one, I’ve never regretted it. I’ve invested well over $30,000 in business mentors as well. And again, never regretted any of that. Every time I’ve invested into my health, my mind, my business, I love lots. And sometimes that is the difference between getting to where you want to be. If you want to look for the dollar store version of everything, go ahead, but that’s what you’ll get. If you want to actually change your biotic, your body, your mind, your life, need to open up your heart and mind too that you are worth it. That you were worth spending money on, spending time on, getting the best of the best because it’s your body. It has to come with you everywhere. Your health, it has to last you a lifetime. It should be the number one thing. Pinch pennies elsewhere, pinch pennies anywhere else. Not on your body, your mind. With the Slay Squad Fitness and Nutrition Coaching and Phoenix Personal Training, we really want you to reach that next level. And a lot of what we do is mindset work. It starts with what you believe about yourself. A lot of the head, they can come in. I think because you just don’t value yourself. You don’t think you’re worth it. And that is a robot. You have to overcome if you really ever wanted to be better. So if you’re ready to join us, change your life. invest in your health and wellness, lose weight, get in the best shape of your life. Prove every aspect of your day to day. It’s a lot of foreign with a Slay Squad fitness and nutrition coaching and phoenix personal training, and we’ll reach out and see how we can help.
